I, Loraine, founder of Women of Elegance, hail from Leeds, West Yorkshire, UK. My journey in hairdressing began at Leeds City College, where I trained and graduated in European hairdressing. I started as an apprentice in a European hair salon in Leeds but soon realized my passion for Afro hair. Determined to master the craft, I moved to London, where I trained and worked in a salon specializing in Afro haircare.

Through hands-on experience, I developed a deep understanding of different Afro hair types, learning cutting, blow-drying, barbering, setting, tonging, straightening, styling, and treatments. I also gained insight into the best Afro hair products for achieving healthy, nourished hair. Witnessing the lack of professional Afro haircare services, I knew there was a need for dedicated, expert care.

In 2002, I founded Women of Elegance Hair & Makeup Artist Services to serve the Leeds community. In 2018, I relaunched my vision as Women of Elegance Professional Bridal Hair and Makeup Artistry, offering exclusive bridal services. Now, I am expanding once again, introducing a dedicated Afro Haircare & Locs service in Leeds. My goal is to educate, nurture, and provide expert care tailored to natural Afro hair.
